Of everything we tell people about AlkaSlim, the water requirement is the one detail we're least willing to soften.
Konjac Glucomannan is a high-viscosity soluble fiber. It's specifically valued in supplements because it absorbs so much liquid relative to its size. That same property is exactly why it needs to be taken with a full glass of water: without enough liquid, the fiber can begin expanding before it fully clears the throat or esophagus.
We recommend 8 to 12 ounces — roughly one full glass — every time you take AlkaSlim, not a sip. Staying upright for a few minutes afterward gives the capsule time to move through your system properly rather than sitting in one place.
Anyone with difficulty swallowing (dysphagia), a narrowed esophagus, or a history of gastrointestinal obstruction should talk to a doctor before using any glucomannan-based product, not just AlkaSlim.
A fiber supplement this effective at creating fullness needs to be treated with the same respect you'd give any product that works by absorbing significant water. Skipping the glass of water doesn't just reduce how well AlkaSlim works — it changes whether it's safe.
